The story
The 2015 mission was the third the foundation had organized. By its end, more than 12,000 people had received free cancer screening, vital health care, surgery, cardiac, eye and dental services and medicine through the CASEC medical missions.
It took place in two regions: the Littoral, at the Edea Regional Hospital Annex, and the South, at the Mpuma Mwet Medical Centre in Nziou, Kribi. In Cameroon, the poor and underserved will wait long hours for the once-in-a-lifetime chance to consult on a health issue, and the team saw that at both sites.
The partnerships grew. Cameroon's Ministry of Health joined for the first time through the National Cancer Control Committee, which provided all gynecology, breast and cervical services. The St. Elizabeth Cardiac Center in Shisong performed more thorough heart examinations. ASCOVIME covered surgery, ophthalmology and dental services and transported the volunteers.
Consultation and surgery were also provided to inmates at the Kribi principal prison, and medical students from Howard University, Drexel University and HIAMS in Buea practiced under supervision in real patient care.

Moments
The National Cancer Control Committee joined the mission for the first time and led all women's cancer screening and education.
Inmates at the principal prison in Kribi received consultations and surgery.
Nutritionist Mme Temfack Fogang Therese held sessions with patients as they waited, on eating right for healthy living.
I must see the ophthalmologist. I have not eaten anything and I have been waiting since morning, but I must stay here overnight so I can see the eye doctor.
Thousands of Cameroonians from all walks of life, most especially those who have never seen a doctor in a lifetime, were opportune to be served.
The Patcha Foundation medical mission 2015 in Edea and Kribi was a huge success.
Volunteering for General medicine Consultation with the Patcha Foundation for the CASEC Mission has always been interesting and full of surprises.
Being in a country where volunteerism is a novice idea, my first impressions about the CASEC mission organized by the Patcha Foundation were nothing short of awe and admiration. I felt very privileged to be accepted as a volunteer in the 2015 medical mission.
As with any other mission, there are ups and downs, but this one in particular was a remarkable source of blessing in itself, for me and all those that participated.
