Walk to fight Cancer and…Win! CAMEROON

Date: Saturday, October 27, 2012 – In Douala

Date: Saturday, November 3, 2012 – In Limbe

Cancer in Africa Data obtained from the IARC (International Agency for research on Cancer) ‟GLOBOCAN 2002 database, shows that compared to developed countries Africans do not have a higher rate of cancer incidence but have an alarming higher mortality rate. This means that the chances for cancer survival are much higher in developed nations. The Patcha Foundation was established to help motivate people to get more conscious and fight the disease.

Since its inception, Tha Patcha Foundation has provided more than 2 million dollars in support of promising cancer research. Yet, much more remains to be done.

The Patcha Foundation started the Walk to fight Cancer to generate critically needed funds to sponsor tests and workshops as part of the foundation’s Cancer Awareness, Screening, Early detection and Care (CASEC) program. Each year since, thousands of individuals participate in the walk to honour their loved ones and join in the fight to find a cure for all cancers.

The walks in Cameroon enable individuals to participate and get involved in fundraising and awareness walks in their own communities.

Locations:

In Douala, the walk will begin from Post Bonanjo at 6:30am, through DHL street all the way to Ecole Public via the main roads. The estimated distance to be covered is 7km.

100% OF THE PROCEEDS FROM THIS EVENT WILL BE USED FOR THE FOUNDATION’S CASEC PROGRAM.
