Pier A. Broadnax, Ph.D., RN

Dr. Pier Broadnax is an Associate Professor and the Director of the Bachelors of Science Nursing Program at the University of the District of Columbia which recently achieved full accreditation through 2023. In addition to this academic appointment, she held a courtesy appointment at Yale University and as a Visiting Researcher at the School of Nursing, Ponitificia Univerisdad Catolica de Chile (Catholic University of Chile), Santiago, Chile. She has also held positions in the public and private sector settings as a Healthcare Administrator. She is the co-lead of the District of Columbia Action Coalition, Future of Nursing Campaign for Action sponsored by AARP and the Robert Wood Johnson Foundation.

Dr. Broadnax has also served as a consultant in international nursing. She traveled to Santiago, Chile to conduct a transcultural research project on the breast cancer knowledge of Chilean women which was funded by the NIH Fogarty Center. She also was a member of an international delegation to Europe to assess international nursing leadership development. This experience included sessions with the World Health Organization and the International Council of Nursing in Geneva, Switzerland as well as with the Royal College of Nursing in London, England. She was invited to present at the 20th Anniversary of the Oxford Roundtable at Oxford University in Oxford, England on the topic of obesity in children.

Dr. Broadnax is widely respected as a guest speaker on issues of professional nursing trends and education, workforce diversity and health policy development.
