Deborah McGruder, MPH

Deborah McGruder, MPH is an Associate Director at the Prince George’s County Health Department and is responsible for the provision of leadership and direction for all health and wellness programs. Programs under her leadership include cancer, chronic diseases and several medical assistance programs including transportation, care coordination, children’s health insurance and nurse monitoring services.
Most recently, she served as the Director of the Infectious Disease Bureau for the Maryland Department of Health and Mental Hygiene, Prevention and Health Promotion Administration. In this role, she led statewide public health efforts in reducing the transmission of infectious diseases. Prior to joining the Maryland Department of Health and Mental Hygiene, Ms. McGruder worked for the Department of Health and Hospitals in Saint Louis, Missouri and provided leadership for infectious and chronic diseases.
Ms. McGruder served as a Senior Project Director at the Academy for Educational Development (AED) in Washington, DC where she provided technical assistance for expanding comprehensive HIV primary medical care and treatment service delivery to medical care sites throughout the United States. Throughout her public health career, Deborah has built a reputation for innovative programming to address unmet needs in communities experiencing a disproportionate share of chronic and infectious diseases.
Ms. McGruder holds a Master’s Degree in Public Health from Saint Louis University and a Bachelor of Science Degree in Business Administration from the University of Missouri. She has carried certification as a Project Management Professional and as a member of the American Public Health Association.
